For Church
& Ministry Organizations
Walking Alongside
Those Living With Dementia & Cognitive Change
Remember The Carer partners with churches and Christian organisations to support individuals living with dementia or cognitive change, their carers, and the faith communities who walk with them.
Alongside our Dementia Care Specialist, our non-clinical, multidisciplinary team — including Certified Neuroscience Coaches, Wellbeing Alignment Mentors, and internationally trained Dementia Practitioners — serves churches by supporting people, strengthening pastoral care, and equipping congregations to respond with compassion, understanding, and practical support.
Our role is not medical, but relational, educational, and supportive — coming alongside the church to care for those who care, and those who are increasingly vulnerable.
Why Dementia-Friendly Churches Matter
Dementia and cognitive change affect not only individuals, but entire families — and increasingly, entire congregations.
Many people quietly withdraw from church because:
-
Worship environments become overwhelming
-
Memory, communication, or behaviour changes feel misunderstood
-
Carers feel exhausted, isolated, or unseen
-
Churches want to help, but don’t know how
A Dementia-Friendly Church is not about programs — it is about awareness, understanding, welcome, and presence.
Churches are uniquely placed to:
-
Reduce isolation and shame
-
Offer belonging when life becomes confusing
-
Support carers who are often carrying heavy, unseen burdens
-
Reflect Christ’s compassion in deeply practical ways
Supporting Care Beyond the Church Door
Much of the struggle families face does not happen on Sundays — it happens at home, late at night, and between moments of support.
Remember the Carer provides:
-
Dementia and cognitive-change education for families and carers
-
Emotional and practical support grounded in compassion
-
Neuroscience-informed wellbeing support to reduce overwhelm
-
Guidance that helps carers understand what is changing and why
-
Ongoing support that prevents burnout and crisis
This allows churches to care well without carrying everything alone.
A Shared Ministry of Care & Referral
We work in mutual partnership with churches and Christian organisations, offering:
-
Referral pathways for carers and families who need additional support
-
Support that complements pastoral care, not replaces it
-
Guidance pastors and ministry leaders can trust
-
Ongoing collaboration as needs change over time
-
Mutual referrals you church, outreach and ministry services
Together, we help ensure that no one walks this journey alone.
Serving Churches, Ministries & Staff
In addition to supporting families, we serve churches directly through:
-
Dementia awareness and Dementia-Friendly Church education
-
In-service sessions for pastors, ministry leaders, volunteers, and staff
-
Practical tools for welcoming and supporting people with cognitive change
-
Guidance for pastoral conversations with carers and families
-
Support for ministry teams who are themselves caring for others
This builds confidence, compassion, and shared understanding across the church community.
Flexible, Accessible Support for Families
Appointments are available 7 days per week, including evenings and weekends, via secure telehealth — allowing carers and families to receive support in the safety and familiarity of their own space.
Private Church & Ministry Partner Access
Partner churches receive access to a private partner portal, providing:
-
Dementia-friendly church resources
-
Education materials for ministry teams
-
Referral guidance and collaboration tools
-
Ongoing support as congregational needs evolve
In Short
Remember the Carer helps churches become places where people living with dementia — and those who care for them — remain seen, supported, and spiritually held.
A Dementia-Friendly Church reflects the heart of Christ by bearing one another’s burdens, especially when the journey becomes long and heavy.
